Tineo to Colinas de Arriba - Together

We walk the Camino alone - in our head, through our feet . . . Though no one, no one can do it alone. That’s the paradox, and the uncertainty and risk, and the surprise and  joy inherent in pilgrimage.
Nothing to see but mist from the albergue window this morning. So we stopped for coffee and toast at the cafe next door and made our own fun - up and out of town.
Toward the green mystic woods . . .
Hang on - where are we?
We are here! It’s a ‘fellowship of the ring’  thing.
With mist settled on spider webs . . .

We climbed and climbed - and eventually stopped for brunch - sharing tortillas and croissants, and resting  feet.
A group of Romanians passed through - where are they staying? Have they booked ahead? Will we be sleeping under a tree tonight?
Thankfully they kept on keeping on, and were not a complication. Time to take in the view.
And draw inspiration from Star Wars characters - the Romanians took lots of photo opportunities.
Which enabled us to get to the albergue for an easy check-in.
A welcome sight after an undulating walk in building temperatures. Time to chill.
And share
And play
A woman from China, who introduced herself as ‘Meow, Meow’ (I’m not kidding) saw my grungy left big toe, offered first aid - so grateful.

More music on the patio, and the communal dining.
A day on the Camino about being together- simple and spontaneous.
It’s impossible to plan or contrive a day like today. Sometimes it happens beyond our control or expectation.
