Oviedo to Grado - Little rain in green Spain
I may look like a hobbit but this coverall rain coat worked - it kept off half of the rain, half as well as I should like, and less than half of the rain half as well as I deserved. Thanks Bilbo and LiLi!

The inner city became suburbia . . .
and then countryside. Green silent pathways, few pilgrims. Everyone was carrying packs with supplies. I was back with the tribe, albeit a slower walking man.

I met Andreas from Italy, Jeff from Manila, and Maria from Madrid. We are all walking solo. Andreas helped me with the hobbit outfit.
The rain lasted an hour- the coat worked brilliantly.
After the first climb, Jeff took this.
The weather looked dodgy and beautiful. This is a natural Camino, subject to sudden changes. ‘I would have been warned by the locals’

And I followed the river valley into town, and booked in at the municipal albergue - not dissimilar to this renovators’ delight,
Actually not at all, there was a wonderful community spirit over preparing dinner. It’s basic yes - but we have some tough climbs and descents ahead- and tonight is good bonding time.
The Primitivo route holds promise of spectacular views and middle earth challenges- bring it on!
