Caminha to Os Loureiros - Catch a boat…maybe to Spain

So many songs about boat trips and river crossings: ‘Catch a boat to England baby … maybe to Spain’ Well,  I did this morning- thanks for the inspiration Nick Drake and Paul Simon. And, oops, I did pay the ferryman before he got me to the other side. 🥹
Today I waved goodbye to Portugal and said hola to Galicia, Spain. Portugal was fabulous and Spain is always special.

Everyone shuffled out quietly- I was almost the last. The morning light was beautiful filtering through the quiet streets leading to river

Then I met Olive Oil!

Popeye was waiting at the dock. What a couple!
Ready for launch and we were away …

The ferryman got me to the other side, and we waved goodbye (though I think Olive saluted - obviously too much spinach 😉)

Stepping into Spain, I smiled and walked up the hill.

This is Galicia alright!

Moments later I walked through a Saturday morning market.
I dropped by the supermarket for breakfast and lunch supplies, and headed out of town paying my respects to Santiago and thousands and thousands of pilgrims who have walked this Way.

Heading to the coast.
Expansive views and reminders
A couple ahead were taken by the vibes of a busker.  I was too.

A steady pace today, the temperature was warmer - still relatively comfortable.

I do admit that these long even stretches are good recovery zones - after scrambling and rock hopping. My feet say thanks!
Ok, I’ll slow down . . . All the while the Atlantic was rumbling quietly on my left.

Broken by rocky sanctuaries that serve as boat havens.
Around  4pm, I stopped and checked into an albergue where Camino friends were booked.

Hey, for the first time ever - my trusty side kick, Sancho Panza - Camino Pack the Fifth (and almost famous in Mama Mia) -  was given a steam spray, on suspicion he had been consorting with bed bugs!!!!

Everyone was being given the same treatment. Sancho seemed satisfied with that.
We can all sleep easy …
