Laxe to Puente Ulla - Santiago mañana

Tomorrow morning I walk into Santiago. After forty walking days from Valencia, I have only a few morning hours left to look over at my shadow, enjoy the sunlight and shaded paths, and scan the Galician countryside before I reach the Praza do Obradoiro, take my boots off,  and sit down in front of the Cathedral.
Which is just as well, because there are only a few spaces left on my Camino credential. I was thinking about that at dinner last night.
So much time alone - and also with locals. The men at the bar suddenly relaxed and smiled when I played, and the lady behind it served me a delicious ensalada mixta, bread and house wine - it was lovely. I had a happy memory as I passed the restaurant this morning.
Another cool, clear morning - perfect for walking.
This is a Romanesque bridge built in 912 - and it still works.
This is an 18th century house - and it does not.
Contemporary calls for Galician Independence. What might that mean?
From morning to mid afternoon, I enjoyed the shaded paths - Impossible to capture the beauty on photos.
‘Mike, we are not pleased about what you wrote about us on your blog yesterday’
Sorry, I know it’s only natural - like this beautiful dappled sunlight.
Rangers and gardeners were out trimming path side undergrowth- I love that. They stopped, I stopped, I waved, they waved back. Gracias hombres!
I could have walked further today- Camino friends are about 5kms further on. Meanwhile I am here next to a 24hour service station drying laundry.

We have arranged to meet tomorrow in Santiago - and between us, we know some fun places to go. It will be a celebration.
By the way, my accomodation tonight is fine - I have a room to myself, the restaurant is on site, and the European Cup from Berlin is on the television- Spain v Germany.

I am planning for an early dinner, good sleep, and predawn departure; and a floating morning walk and joyful arrival, mañana!
