Vilalba to A Lagoa- Verdant green & wet, wet wet!
Galicia is famous for its misty rain/ Well today was a bonus- we got morning misty rain ✅ as well as an afternoon downpour which meant we were dripping wet when we arrived at A Lagoa Albergue - just on dark.
The morning walk was like a dream - evocative ruins
Green pathways
I even came across a horreo doing what it is supposed to do.
Galicia is the place for stonemasons who can work with slate- it’s even used for fencing.
So much rain- the streams are overflowing.
One highlight was passing the 100 kms marker to Santiago
Another was walking with others for a while.
Then the heavy rain came - and the task of dealing with total saturation for a couple of hours. I put the phone away and decided to swim the rest of the way.
Until finally we made it to the albergue - with assistance of a head light!
The beer and tapas tasted good- as did the traditional Caldo soup.
Washing and drying is being done and will be ready by morning- the hospitalero is fabulous.
I’m going to sleep well tonight,
Now less than 90 kms to Santiago,
What you can swim the Camino?? That's ridiculous man!! Well done, Mike. This weather is relentless. I guess at least you don't have to worry about getting sun burnt. And wonderful if there is a way to get gear dried at the albergue. Onward amigo and may the sun smile through. Buen Camino, Neils
