Ribadeo to Lourenza- Good day sunshine!

It was a relaxing walk today- hardly any rain, lots of sunshine, no wind, even paths, and clear signs. And it started with an awesome Albergue breakfast of orange juice, tortilla, toast, lemon cake, and cafe con leche.

Off to the hills - and the last glimpse of the ocean.

Sea is fading in the distance .

Camino signs in Galicia are different and detailed. While the shell symbols are sometimes reversed to point in the opposite direction (which is weird), the milestones give you your distance to Santiago to the nearest metre (yep to the nearest one thousand of a kilometre).

The shell symbol on this one is pointing in the right direction (ie the same way as the arrow) - and the reading says 185.897kms to Santiago. So good to know where you are 😊

Dappled morning sunshine through the eucalyptus.

Contrasted with bush fires last summer.

Disturbingly familiar.
At various times during the day, I walked with, ahead, and behind a group of Camino companions- including two, I first met around San Sebastián weeks ago. We look out for one another.

And a cow I met for the first time.

The descending walk into Lourenza was a little mystical. The afternoon light was fading.
I was intrigued by the medieval heritage of the town. The Monastery of San Salvador was established in 969. It has been the foundation of the religious centre of town ever since.

A good day walking in sunshine with some afternoon clouds. Evening falls earlier and earlier each day.
