Podena to Castro Udiales - Rainy Coastal Cliffs

Today was time to slow down. I took the coastal path to Castro Urdiales, after stepping out in the rain

The walk started with a climb (of course)

Followed by a level (more or less) mostly asphalt surface walk with the cliffs and rocky shoreline surprising at each turn

A young horse followed me at one point and I met some goats as well

I whistled and thought happy thoughts as I passed that horny creature! I met up with a Camino friend and we walked together the rest of the way.

Encountering ocean caves constantly being eroded

And arrived at the albergue just before it was due to open - happy to have had some space and taken some pace out of my walking.

  1. Great to see that smiling as you set out in the rain, Mike. If you can't get out of it, get into it!! And it looks like it cleared somewhat as the day went on. A contented stage. BC Neils

  3. And it came back again 🙄so afternoon sight seeing was curtailed- actually Castro Udiales is a fascinating place - there’s a big castle of course, the Romans were here before that around 100AD, and lots of evidence of how economics and politics shifted over the centuries- it’s seems to be a thriving regional centre for farming as well as tourism 🚶‍♀️walking on today to …. Not sure yet 😉🙏
