Getaria to Deba- Stepping through time
The path from Getaria to Deba was a trial with steep inclines and declines, all the way,
A highlight was the rock formations at Algorri Cove. There is a rich geographical history in the layers of rock including evidence of the mass extinction believed to have been caused by a meteor strike in the Gulf of Mexico, You can see a thin black line found to contain fossil evidence of biota 70% of which has not showed up since-including that of dinosaurs,
Layer upon layer
And the coastal views continued as well
The sight of a refreshment van was welcome after several hours of up and down.
I also had the opportunity to visit the church of Our Lady of Itziar
It was refreshing to have an open country side church to visit- with the opportunity to have your Camino passport stamped.
There were stretches of flat shady green - always welcome !
Tonight I am booked into the ‘penthouse’ above Deba Railway Station - 🤔
The square this evening was a friendly family place. I enjoyed watching the comings and goings,
A good day, a tough walk at times, and much to look forward to- and my scratches and bruises are healing. Thanks again for all your messages 🙏
Onya Dad - and glad to know your wounds are healing!
