Boo to Caborredondo - Immersed and Freewheeling
Today was a real Camino day- beautiful frustrating confusing and in the end deeply satisfying- a web of emotions really - all connected.
Breakfast was fun with a lovely French family
There were arrows pointing everywhere this morning- so I ended up taking the route by the river
560 kms to go! My goodness π only that many?
Roadside again and pavement and ‘every now and then a little rain must fall’
Then I got lost - no matter- I knew how lost I was π
How’s the serenity- and what about the nice gates (courtesy of el Castro)
Eventually made it via ‘the tradesperson’s entrance’ to Santillana del Mar. - This is truly an authentic medieval town that has (well) been turned into a tourist attraction. It was certainly evocative of ages past but for me there were too many people without back packs- so I walked on
Plus one albergue had closed permanently and the other shut down last week for the winter - so I had no choice . Plus OMG - trinkets anyone?
Up the hill and out - as soon as possible
Then the sea again and the beautiful church of San Pedro on a headland overlooking farmland and the ocean
And the sign to the best albergue so far
I was tired but I had the best walk - don’t know how far - but it was long. When I arrived, the hospitalera gave me a cup of water with my name on it
Then we had dinner all together and I played Beatles
music - and lots of other songs.
So much in one day - a Camino day - a full one to be treasured π
Phew! Glad you found a bed after your unexpected ‘detour’! Sounds like a pretty perfect ending to the day πΆ
